	About the Artist
	ROBERT LLOYD NESS Robert Ness is an up and coming Midwest artist. Born in Indiana, he has spent much of his life as a Michigan resident. His initial art instruction occurred while in school. Since then he has independently explored and studied various artistic styles and techniques, discovering along the way, a great appreciation of many art forms and a latent talent to create. While raising a family and completing a career as a professional firefighter in Lansing , Michigan, he continued to dabble and experiment in various forms of artistic expression. It wasn’t until retirement that he was able to fully devote time to development of his unique style and art form. Robert’s early work centered on the use of watercolor, acrylics, and oils in the traditional way. Over time, his interests and talents evolved to the manipulation of metals creating abstract sculptures, and to three dimensional glass carvings and designs. Recently he discovered a new way to apply his artwork to tile through the dye sublimation process, using high heat and pressure, transforming the mundane world of tile to a new and exciting level of artistic expression and display. His work has been shown and sold in Sante Fe, New Mexico, and Sedona, Arizona, as well as regional and private sales, with both residential and commercial applications. Robert continues to reside in the mid-Michigan area with his wife, Nancy. They travel extensively throughout the United States , enjoying the beauty and uniqueness of each area traveled. Their journeys have taken them from coast to coast, into the depths of the canyonlands of Arizona and Utah to the mountain wilderness of Colorado and Idaho . They have experienced the grace and charm of old costal plantations with flourishing gardens and private courtyards. They have spent 23 years cruising the Great Lakes mostly in the North Channel and Georgian Bay area of Canada. Much of Robert's work has been inspired by these travels and experiences.
